ORIGINAL REVIEW May 2019

In such an affluent area ,it's a real surprise to find a working class boozer. It's housed in a interwar years brick building. There is a lounge to the right side, but it's basic and a small corner stage offers occasional live music. To the left is the pool room with a darts board , fruit machines and this is where the regulars gather. The flatscreen will show Sky or BT Sport events.
The bar has a single handpump which looked quite new and was clipped with Robinsons Pint of Thrones.I was informed that this wasn't working, nor was a keg tap for Kronenbourg 1666 but "an engineer has been called".This left me ordering a half of Heineken £2.50.
There are seats outside by the busy road but this seemed the best option. On my return visit to the bar to take back my glass ,the barmaid said "See you later" rather more in hope than expectation. It's highly unlikely that she will be proved right.

UPDATE.

All change here. After a period of being tinned up,the interior has very recently been stripped out and redecorated as an upmarket gastro pub with dining type tables on both sides of the centrally placed bar.Gone are the pool table, sports screens and small live music stage. It's no longer a working class boozer and there are far more wooden upmarket seats outside with bench seating at a side area but outside is still affected by the busy Petersham Road.
Two real ales in the shape of London Pride and Twickenham Naked Ladies (decent nick,£4.70).Food service begins next week in a scaled down form, but will ramp up progressively as a new kitchen is built into part of the present car park.I expect to return for food so will review again at that stage.
Covid QR code registration is required both inside and out ,and given the presence of decent real ale and friendly service this is a feasable drinking venue.A great improvement all round and hence the upgrade.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Fox & Duck

This brick-built roadhouse comes a quite a surprise in above-affluent Petersham, turning out to be quite a basic two-room local. The gloomy bar has been refurbished at some stage with a limited amount of semi-modern furniture (including a couple of tables up a pointless step. The pool room is brighter, busier and louder, but neither room has much in the way of decor. Also has a few tables out on the front patio if you want to watch the traffic crawl by. A solitary handpump was supposed to be dispensing Black Sheep Holy Grail, but this was temporarily off so forced into having a John Smith's (£3.85) since there are no other hostelries in the vicinity.
