A very good pub. The pub is split left and right with a pool room to the rear. The larger area is to the left. Several handpumps on the bar with Rossendale beers on most. There are no tellies in this pub so if you want footy with your beer then don't come here. The room to your left is split into 2 areas, the room to your right just the one. A good pub and very down to earth.

My favourite pub in Hyde. Yes it is a proper pub. The people are fairly friendly and the beer is always on top form. Quiz on Thursdays, singer/s on Saturday. Free Cuban food both nights.

This is a proper pub, despite the fact that there's a Cuban restaurat upstairs and the food is available in the bar during restaurant opening times. There's a central bar with a tap room to the right which has a pool table & a dartboard. The room to the left obviously used to be two rooms as the seating is split into two horseshoe shapes which allows far more seating than one open room and there's a fireplace in each of the areas. There's also a quiz machine near the bar which was too clever for me on this occasion. The full range of Rossendale brewery beers are available here and the two I tried were in very good nick. This pub is quite rightly listed in the CAMRA GBG2015.

It's difficult to give an impression of this pub, because the two times I have been here it's been rammed with Luton Town supporters. On the more recent occasion, our last game in the football conference, it was so busy that they were serving beer in plastic glasses. I returned after the game for a quick pint (in a glass) before catching my train, and the pub was more normal. There's a central bar, with a long room to the right featuring pool table, darts and a TV screen for live sports. On the left are what used to be two or three smaller rooms now knocked into a larger space with still some feel of the former layout. There are ten hand pumps on the bar: one cider and most of the beers were from Pennine Brewery. There was a Saturday evening disco setting up when I was here, and the DJ played We Are the Champions, which went down well with the Hatters fans.

The sportman has gone through a revamp and now includes a cuban restaurant upstairs run by two sisters, I can highly recommend the tapas sublime, down stairs there is varying ales all worth trying as the land lord has is own micro-brewery onsite.
