Steve C left this review about The Tower

The Tower was closed when I passed through on a recent Wednesday evening. Apparently the opening hours are from midday until 18:00 Monday through to Saturday.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Dog & Duck

Jan 2012 - Things have changed a bit since my previous visit (see below), and the Dog & Duck now has a pavement seating area out front and the external decor has been re-done following the temporary closure for refurbishment in 2011. I understand that they initially tried to take it upmarket slightly by offering food again but there is no sign of any menus now. Much of the furniture has been removed from the front part of the staple-shaped bar (which now looks less dingy than previous), and there is now a sound desk in the corner for various 'special' events. However, the lighting in the rear lounge area was so low as to make the space unusable which just leaves the basic seating along the other two sides of the bar. On the beer front, there are now two handpumps and (somewhat to my surprise) one of these was actually working - offering a drinkable pint of Jennings Redbreast (£2.50). One thing that doesn't appear to have changed at all is the clientele, and that still makes a visit to this rough and ready place one for the intrepid...

Aug 2008 - Looks OK from the outside, but once inside it gives the impression of being the sort of place where you expect the police to come in at any moment, find somebody to take away to 'help with their inquiries' and depart to a chorus of "f*** off you w***ers" from the charmless clientele. And so it proved to be! No real ale, but had my first pint of keg Pedigree (that was served so cold it could easily have been John Smiths or Caffreys for all the taste it had left) - not an experience I plan to repeat in the near future. Currently put up for letting by the Marston's Pub Company (as the rather large and off-putting sign on the High Street facade makes clear).

I L left this review about The Dog & Duck

The windows have been cleaned more recently and the To Let sign has gone but otherwise much as the review below. Shame as at one time it had a reasonable range of ales and the Fullers London Pride was possibly the best I have ever had. Used to do good food and had a good mix of clientelle. lets hope there will be improvements to make it worth visiting again.

Update November 2011

It's been refurbished and there is now a hand pull in there but it's the now normlly the only place with door men on these days since the night club closed and is 'the centre of Redhill nightlife' these days!
