Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Abbot
Large Greene King pub located across a busy roundabout from the the railway and bus stations (and a closed nightclub). More modern inside than the frontage would suggest, with various different seating areas on different levels. Dart board. Cheap food offers. Rather dubious atmosphere. Only plus point since my previous visit over four years ago: it does now do real ale again, albeit just Greene King IPA (£2.95).

I L left this review about The Abbot
A farily newly built pub done in the style of am uch older pub on the outside. Its opposite the station and the nightclub.
Last time I walked past it only had Greene King IPA ale on. Not been in here for years. Tends to be the pub used before heading to the night club!

Visited last month and thought it showed promise for such a large pub close to station. Landlord heard me discussing ale choices with friends and took the time to point out that Speckled Hen has now been reduced to 4.5%abv (from 5.2?) which makes it more approachable if on a session. Unfortunately that positive helpful attitude was absent yesterday lunch when, despite a friendly greeting from the bar, only one of the 3 handpumps was in action - GK IPA. Come on Abbot, make an effort.
