Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royal Oak

Country dining pub run by the Grumpy Mole mini-chain, comprising several dining areas plus 'The Snug' offering a limited amount of general seating beside the bar. Furnished and decorated in a mix of traditional and modern features. Also has an extensive, part-covered beer garden with views at the back. Westerham's British Bulldog (£4.25) and Shere Drop from Surrey Hills available from two of the four handpumps. Overall, doing surprisingly good business in the circumstances, but the staff were also coping well.

Nick Davies left this review about The Royal Oak

This is a beautifully situated old pub an a rural location a good way from anywhere, but then the heart sinks when all the signs advertise the gastronomic delights therein: "fresh fish and crustacea delivered daily," that sort of thing. However, bouyed up by the knowledge that the pub has been in the GBG for a year or two so can't be too bad you soldier on. Once in you find it isn't all that bad, or about 20% of it isn't anyway. The bar at the front and the area to the left look unchanged from when this was properly a rural local but the rest of it, a huge extension to the rear isn't a pub at all but an expensive restaurant for the hugely wealthy people who live round here.

As long as you keep to the pub bit it's fine, and the beer is very good too, Larkin's, Bill King, Harvey's in respectable form, and friendly service - in all too many pubs of this sort wanting just a drink and not spending 30 quid on food is seen as aberrant behaviour and you're made to stand in a corner by the bog door to drink it, but no problem here.

Stop by if you are in the area, but there are better choices around.
