Went past on the bus today. The premises are now occupied by a new branch of Vesper Homes - a firm of local Estate Agents - so it looks as though we've seen the last of this place as a pub.

A large solid presumably Victorian pub situated in a bit of no man's land between Kingston, Norbiton and surrounding suburbia. The main room wraps around a central bar, there is also an add-on behind and to the right that seems to be an eating area. The pub has a high ceiling, is mainly carpeted but with a wood floor area adjacent to the bar. A couple of fireplaces, light upper walls and that modern matt olive green style colour to the bar, lower walls and ceiling. It rather feels that the pub is attempting a modern upmarket look, there are tea light candles and wine lists, but it really doesn't get there. The walls have numerous still photos from classic films, I enjoyed walking around and guessing them. Seating consists of lots of sofas but also some traditional stuff at normal tables. A big garden to the rear, plus some seating at benches to the front.
The TV on the wall was playing Smooth Radio, with the consequent adverts and commentary, which I do find rather irritating.
It's a Greene King pub, and had IPA plus Westgate Sundance (GK) and guest from Holts, Humdinger (£3.10). A bit tired but at least a GK pub with a guest so no complaints.
An average boozer but with some proper competition nearby from The Willoughby and Park Tavern.

Impressive old building in suburban backstreet, but has become somewhat neglected and run down. Some signs of renovations appearing - hopefully will get better before too long as it could be really nice. Seems to keep a couple of interesting guest ales on handpump, which must be a good sign.
