An impressive large road house, except it has been cut off from the rebuilt road so now primarily serving the locals as a sports bar and family dining place. What were obviously once separate bars are all knocked into one, but it retains some nice features including arched windows and a vaulted ceiling. The left side is the games area, with several pool tables round the back, the bar is in the centre and the right hand side is laid up for dining. Sports TVs and large screens lurk in most directions but a recent refurb means the place is in quite good shape generally. Outside at the front are some terraced tables, however the traffic noise is considerable. Beerwise it offers Greene King IPA and Abbot, Proper Job and a local guest, which in this case was Loxhill Biscuit. Not a bad example of its type.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Wooden Bridge

Very large John Barras 1936 roadhouse, located north of the town centre on must once have been the A3 trunk road. Variety of seating / dining areas, but all with fairly nondescript furniture and decor. Also has a terrace wrapping around the façade for the better weather. Basic menu, not all of which was available, but at least the excuse that they were waiting for the delivery was plausible since the lorry was parked up outside. Also only had Broadside on from the four handpumps.

A large open plan pub and as a result is lacking a little in atmosphere.About half the pub is furnished with various tables and chairs, the pub has a quite extensive food menu aimed at the cheaper end of the market featuring many usual suspect "pub classic" meals, most under a tenner.
Football was on and displayed on several flat screens plus at one darkened end a now rather old fashioned, pull down big screen,as a result most of the clientele were male.
Plenty of ordinary fizz on the bar along with three hand pulls, two had reversed clips ,which doesn't bode well especially on an early Saturday evening, these were London Pride and Caledonion Flying Scotsman, rather uninspiring anyway, however the one remaining ale turned out to be very good,Hogs Back Nirvana at a reasonable £3.27.
There was a poster on the bar for a cask ale beer festival featuring 6 ales and 10% discount for CAMRA members, this had past a couple of weeks earlier and I don't think the discount holds beyond that.
Not the type of place I would aim for again ,but ok for a cheap meal, pint and a game of football.
