Was a John Barras pub, now branded GK. The car park at the front doesn’t appear to have the restrictions mentioned below, and there was lots of room. There is a garden at the back which had plenty of seating. There is a dartboard but it’s currently locked up, the TV above the woodburner in the main bar was switched off though the one in the Snuggery was showing live sports. The staff were pleasant enough, albeit inexperienced. The food was the standard GK menu, inexpertly microwaved, served in chipped enamel trays and rather unsatisfying. Only one ale on, GK IPA, which was in poor condition. The atmosphere wasn’t particularly convivial, and the popular contemporary music spewing from the jukebox wasn’t enjoyable. It’s very average, worth a try if passing, but not a destination of choice.

An attractive and quite old pub, as evidenced by the ceiling beams, with traditional furnishings. There are several doors, although the interior is all joined through. The small front bar hosts a dart board and a TV, with the middle part opening out into a fair-sized room with tables. Garden at rear. Beers seemed in fair condition, even if a little unambitious with GK IPA, Abbot, Doom Bar and Tribute on pump. Food not sampled but looked ok. Car park is pay and display with cost refunded on bar sales. A good, traditional, no-frills pub.

Good pub along a busy road. Decent ale and a quiz night.
