Well described by Moby, below, this 1920s town pub also has a smoking area at the back and hosts occasional live music evenings. The reception from the locals was very warm, and the landlord was friendly to humans and dogs. Good basic food was on offer at a reasonable price. Three ales on, Ruddles Best, Golden Hen and Abbott, all in reasonable condition. A decent local, and I'd be happy to come back when passing.

A Greene King pub and very much a locals type pub with a seemingly good customer base, over 20 people there at 5:00 pm on a Wednesday afternoon.A horseshoe shaped room surrounds a central bar, the floor is carpeted,basic tables and chairs are dotted around the outer perimeter with stools at the bar, simply decorated with various old pictures of the pub on the walls, some confirming this pub was once Courage owned, there is also a large glass case full of various miniature bottles. Back to the bar we find five hand pumps with four in use, unfortunately from my point off view nothing interesting, the choice was Green King IPA and Abbott,Ruddles Best and Old Golden Hen, the latter was in good condition and not that bad a pint, but as I said ,not interesting.
Its a decent pub with friendly locals and landlord, shame about the beer selection on my visit.

I would recommend this Pub to anyone looking for a reasonably priced meal and a good drink.
