A big old pub with high ceilings and large rooms, which feel quite spacious despite retaining various dividing walls. This might be partly down to the plain white upper walls, which give quite a bright appearance. It is fairly sport-led, with numerous screens around and a pool table in the back room. Outside there are tables on the pavement and in the former car park at the back. Just Doom Bar available on this visit, with Harvey's clip-reversed, but condition was surprisingly good. Definitely one for the lads.

WhatPub suggests that this pub on Ewell's High Street stays open until 11pm during the week. Facebook and Google state 10pm. So, I wasn't expecting any issue getting served on my arrival a few minutes past 9pm last night.

However, bar staff were cleaning up. The floor was mopped and chairs and stools had already been stacked on tables. Sure enough, they confirmed that they were closed.

Granted it was a Tuesday night. But I know many drinkers that don't even go into pubs until 10pm or later. So, this pub must surely be missing out on trade by closing so early and why on earth does it not publish its correct opening times, or were the barmaids just looking for an early trap?

For the record, Sharp's Doom Bar and a beer from Courage (probably Best Bitter) were the real ales. However, I never got the chance to try either. A very disappointing visit and I would suggest that if this pub cannot attract trade on a High Street after 9pm on any day of the week, that it won't be with us for much longer.

A fairly large pub divided into three seperate bars, the main drinking area is central with a dining room to the left and sports bar to the right as you enter, apparently dogs are only now allowed in the sports bar(Health And Saftey) according to the new pub rules notice on the wall.
Its all pretty basic stuff in here though with mixed seating throughout the drinking areas including bar stools benches/banquets and general table and chairs. There are five hand pumps on the bar along with the normal keg options, ales were Youngs Gold and Bitter as well as TT Landlord and of course Doom Bar, one handle being vacant. I found the Youngs Gold to be a little tepid in temperature.
All in All a pretty average pub.

It's changed a bit since Rex's outing, the Spanish restaurant venture is no more. There remain three physical distinct bars which also form a sort of continuum in terms of atmosphere and layout. With nice TT Landlord, pleasant service and fewer sweary white-van types than some places round here this is probably the best bet in Ewell at the moment.

When I visited on Wednesday afternoon they had on four ales – Young’s Bitter and Bombardier from the ranks of the usual suspects, plus a couple of Stonehenge ales in Pigswill and Danish Dynamite (£3.50 a pint).
This pub comprises three distinct drinking/dining areas, surrounding a central horseshoe bar. On the right is what is signed on the door as the Sherwood Bar, and is more akin to a public bar. To the left of this is a slightly nicer, but very small room that effectively acts a corrider between the other, and is directly in front of the bar counter. This room has just three tables, plus banquettes and some small stools, and is decorated with prints of old London and noteworthy individuals (I assume noteworthy as I didn’t recognise any of them) from centuries past. This in turn leads in turn to what is signed as the Saloon Bar, and is now used by the pub as a Spanish restaurant. There were flatscreen TVs on the walls in the non-restaurant rooms showing sport (but muted) and a pop music radio station was being played in the “public” bar. I didn’t examine the Spanish restaurant menu in detail, and I didn’t see any sign of menus or food being available in the other two bars.
The presence of a couple of Stonehenge ales is a definite plus, and apparently an improvement on what has been available in the past. Nonetheless, otherwise this pub is not really worth going out of your way to visit – unless you want some Spanish tapas of course. But it is an OK pub, if nothing very special.

Quite a large pre war building of no architectural merit .Four real ales available,Adnams Bitter,Youngs Bitter,Bombadier,Spitfire, nothing out of the ordinary,a little pricey but drinkable. The food is good quality and is cooked rather than boiled in a bag or microwaved. The lounge interior is rather featureless, but the restraunt area is a bit smarter and the lunchtime crowd are respectable. However in the evening the pub becomes a lot more boisterous, and there is usually a big welcome committee of smokers infront of the public bar .When I was a lad and the Knights were in charge this pub was called The Green Man,not sure why it now has the prefix"Famous" ,more likely "Infamous".

A large village (well suburban really) pub, quite busy early evening. Looks to be 30's/pre-war built like many pubs in the outer suburbs. Three seperate areas plus a dining area to the rear, although tables in the left side room were set with menus and condiments too. Carpeted throughout, and with generally traditional style seating. Extensive food menu of regular dishes plus some ambitiously priced specials.

Five ales on handpump, Taylor's Landlord, Youngs Bitter, CW Bombardier, Shepherd Neame Spitfire, and Adnam's Bitter. To me, if you are going to serve five there should be a bit more effort to get a more interesting guest or two in? The beer tried was in fairness top notch.

A rather nice cast iron and tiled fireplace in the left bar was somewhat unusually hidden from view by a table, shame but it suggests it is never used. The pub forecourt has a few standard bench tables.

Not bad, a bit large for my taste, but certainly serving a decent pint.
