More of a traditional pub compared to the Bailiwick up the road and the two in conjunction were an hour well spent. Inside has a homely feel with traditional wooden seating, hanging jugs, bottles displayed along the bar gantry, real fire and a selection of national papers available. Four ales on here: West Berks GOB, Youngs Bitter, Doom Bar and Courage Best. Shame they felt the need for three nationals as the amount of West Berks being drunk was an indicator that tastes here are a little more advanced (it is an Enterprise pub, which might help explain that…). The two ales I tried were in good nick. A nice convivial atmosphere and I could have settled down for session easily.

Looks good outside and in (Inn) but, oh dear, what a let down the TEA was after enjoying a very good version of the same at the Fox & Hounds. Came up clear but somehow managed not to realise how flat & sour it was until it was too late to realistically ask for a change. Returned 3 half-drunk pints to bar on way out and mentioned it wasn't right. Some helpful punter at the bar suggested we'd made a bad choice as it hadn't been served for a coupla hours. I won't relay the friendly advice I could have dispensed in return.
