Large pub retaining the two original entrances, although they both lead into the same place, which is a large central bar surrounded by nice traditional furnishings and leading off into various areas behind. Large outdoor area at rear, as well as few tables to the front. A fair range of local and regional ales were on offer, alongside the usual Doom Bar etc. The sampled Rebellion Roasted Nuts (a beer not a snack) was in good form.

A sympathetically modernised pub but still traditional at heart. I only counted six handpumps as opposed to the eight in John's review below, Its possible I could have missed a couple somewhere. Beers on were Rebellion IPA, St Austell Tribute and Proper Job,Doom Bar, Abbot and coming soon was Titanic Plum Porter. There was quite a good feel about this place, I quite liked it.

Re-visit over the weekend. The place has had a bit of TLC and there were five ales (plus a Westons coder) on the go. My Adnams wasn't up to much but the Directors was pretty good. Staff were cheery and efficient. A decent improvement.

The Leeds Utd of Surrey pubs. The beer used to be excellent (Adnams and Archers with a guest) under Linda's guidance, but since she moved on the place has gone to pot. The beer is still there but the quality is rather hit and miss now. The food was diabolical, you could have robbed a jewellers with battered fish I was served up. If you're hungry, go to the Fish & Chip shop over the road. Though if you give up your seat, you're unlikely to get it back - it is still very busy. Don't sit in the comfy seats near the toilet, it often stinks to high heaven. The beer garden out the back isn't too bad, however. Customers are a fairly broad bunch, but beware the pinstriped estate agents that come in at 5:30 braying loudly and Royal Holloway staff members getting wasted on a Friday night. And fat polyester-clad Chelsea fans.

Nice pub with good beer and reasonably priced. Needs refurbishing seats falling apart in places. Often loud with sport showing most of the time.
