Fuller's pub just to the south of the town centre that seems to have changed its emphasis more to dining since the last review. A number of Christmas parties were concluding on my mid-afternoon visit, but there were also people there holding meetings and working from the pub.

The bar can be found directly in front of you as you enter. Seating areas can then be found both to the left and the right of the bar. Drinkers appear to sit nearer the front windows, with diners towards the rear. I later noticed a small podium next to the bar asking customers to wait to be seated. Luckily this wasn't enforced for me.

London Pride & Hophead are the real ales. A third handpull was unclipped. My Hophead was in a good condition.

The Queens Head has a single room inside wrapping around a central bar,it was obviously once divided into two rooms but now is only accessed by a side door. There's a couple of tv screens on the wall, Baseball was on while I was there, the jukebox and dartboards are still present.
There were two banks of three pumps split on opposite sides of the bar all badged up but they were mirroring each other, beers on were Pride,ESB and Seafarers, there was a separate single handpump unused . Its an OK locals pub but not a prizewinner.

Basic, old-skool Fullers local. Attractive tile-hung exterior as mentioned below. Side entrance, leading to a simple curved wooden bar with burgundy leatherette banquettes and a garden to the rear. Football team pendants above the bar, a motley collection ranging from Grimsby Town to Brighton. Punter entertainment; darts to left (plenty of silverware) with pool to right and another dart board as well as a jukey and TV sports. Four pumps with three Fullers ales; Chiswick (so-so) Pride and ESB. Simple no-frills food offered. Fair enough for what it is but the Cricketers is clearly the better Fullers pub in town (you have three to choose from!).

At the far end of South Street is The Queens Head.

It’s an ex coaching inn with a tile hung roof that apparently dates back to the 1800’s.

Inside is a smallish L shaped bar with, at the far end, a pool table and 2 separate dartboards, one at each end of the bar. Décor is traditional tables and chairs with a long banquette along the length of one wall. Black beams are decorated with horse brasses and plates, which don’t really fit in with the loud jukebox and general feel of the place. It’s a rather bright basic interior with little of specific note, mainly aimed at locals. It’s probably just far enough way from the town centre not to get much in the way of passing trade..

An official looking notice in the window tells us that the pub’s licence is under review because of recent instances of crime and disorder and public nuisance, but, thankfully, it was quite sedate on my recent Saturday lunchtime visit.

It’s a Fullers pub with the usual range – Pride, Chiswick and ESB. I didn’t see anything to indicate that they ever took any guest beers.

There’s not a lot to get enthusiastic about here.

On driving past a while back it looked closed but I don't know if it back open again. Should remain open as it was a fine Fullers pub.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Queens Head

Unremarkable, and just far enough away from the town centre for passing visitors to be something of a novelty. However, friendly enough and the Chiswick was in good condition.
