A rather homely local with the one-time two rooms knocked into one but retaining their original feel: the 'public' side to the left with dartboard and the 'lounge' to the right with seating. The only ales on offer were somewhat disappointingly London Pride and Doom Bar.

Advertises itself as a supposed free house but just one ale available on Saturday afternoon from Thurstons which was poor; exchanged with apologies by the very friendly barmaid although ‘Mick’ at the end of the bar said it was fine and he proceeded to drink another pint of it, I feel sorry for his guts and toilet bowl, maybe his wife cleans it. Settled for an emergency half of Carling (gassed to the max) but I did get offered another ale as it was going on which I politely declined, knowing that if it was grim I wouldn’t have much choice other than to swallow it and look happy. Anyway, the pub has a U-shaped interior which hasn't seen much in the way of decor for 25 odd years but maybe is none the worse for that (pub carpet, red fabric banquettes etc), though a bit of touching up wouldn't go amiss. TV football was competing with dire chart music via dogs, papers and vaping. A contended crowd in and it felt like a friendly sort of place. A shame it failed on the cask basics as otherwise it felt like a decent, if scruffy, little local.

A rather basic pub with the single room wrapping around the central bar, traditionally furnished the pub appeared to be caught in time, somewhere between the 1970's and 80's. There were a couple of customers in on a mid-week lunchtime, they were friendly enough and open to conversation as was the Landlady. Three pumps on the bar, and this is where it started to go wrong, two unclipped with a solitary Sharps Atlantic, so going for that my suspitions were aroused by the friendly landladys furious pulling on the pump, the resultant liquid being more akin to pea soup, the landlady, friendly but maybe not so knowledgable, went on to say the gas is not working and that although the hand pump works without it , it's better when the gas is on? I didn't argue and settled for a lager and packet of crisps.
A pleasant enough pub ,but with the ale situation, which looks more permanant than temporary, I can't see me dropping in again.
