Real Ale Ray left this review about The Anchor Inn

This place is double pretentious and after visiting here and reading their website, it all makes sense. I can see the toff behind the bar was the prime candidate, who ran the so called Sloaney Pony in Parsons Green. When entering through the door, we were greeted as though entering a restaurant. I asked the posh waitress if they had any cask ale on the bar, she found it difficult to understand me. Two ales on the bar. Put some local staff in there, for us normal folk.

Philip Gaskin left this review about The Anchor Inn

This is a small hotel and restaurant rather than a pub, although it does qualify to be on this site. In the bar areas food is the main priority, although they do stay open all day for drinks. It is pretentious, as a visit to their web site demonstrates, with one of the lunch specials shown on the board, (ham, bubble & squeak, poached egg and mustard cream,) priced at £13.25. We will not be returning, but will see it on our way to and from the Bell Inn which is close by.

train man left this review about The Anchor Inn

Something of a surprise that The Anchor was not on BITE before our trip to Southwold/Walberswick as it is just up the road from the Bell. Very pleasant front bar, Adnams in good form, polite barman (bizarrely on work placement from Canada) who produced comp peanuts with our beer. Larger bar/eating area to the left and outdoor seating out back. They do accom with a 2 night minimum stay but a single night can be arranged for a small supplement. Worth a visit when this side of the creek.
