A quiet country gastropub in the 2016 GBG. Most tables are set for dining, though there are places to sit and drink and discrete areas break up the interior nicely. Quite a homely and warm atmosphere with a real fire, low ceilings, quarry tile flooring, red and mushroom wall shades, candles on tables, curtains etc. Look out for the Beano wallpaper, a framed Titanic brewery pump clip collection and a statuette of the HMV pooch replete with gramophone. Five pumps with four ales on - Bass, Goffs Tournament, Tower Brewery Gone for a Burton (decent shape) and Burton Bridge Golden (very good). Despite the emphasis on food, we rather enjoyed our stay here, it’s a nice little place with a good range of beer in quaffable form. 7.5
