Quinno _ left this review about Globe Inn

A large imposing and austere building from the outside which made me wonder quite what sort of place I would be stepping into. Inside, however, is a really well-done modernisation in the style of a restrained Art Nouveau continental brasserie; dark mahogany and mocha shades with glass insets at the bar and on the pillars plus a lot of gleaning brass. Noticeably busy on a Friday lunchtime session compared to some other nearby outlets. Four pumps, all operational, dispensing Bass (NBSS 3.5), Wainwright, Holdens Mild (4) and some rugby themed beer. I really liked it here and it’s a Tamworth must-visit.

I only visited this one to avoid the clamber up the stairs to the toilets in the King's Ditch micropub across the road. It was obviously once a Bass coaching inn but now consists of a modernised single room with obtrusive TVs. The bar is to the left and there is an area runs off to the right about half way along. There is another raised area at the rear.
There are five hand pumps which had two unused, Bass, Marston's Wainwright and Holden's Black Country Mild. I obviously went for the mild (£3.20) which was OK but a bit warm. The price was excessive compared to their tied houses but they don't have any in Tamworth or anywhere else nearby!
This place was better than I expected and the Holden's Mild was a real boon.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Globe Inn

Rather austere façade, but there are some interesting features including some green glazed brickwork and the covered entrance to what is presumably a courtyard behind. However, the place proves to be a welcoming pub once you get inside (and still offers accommodation too). The front of the bar has a limited number of tables but the slightly split-level side seating area and rear dining area are both well furnished. Traditional decor throughout. Four of the five handpumps on the gantried counter were in use, offering Bass, Doom Bar, Wainwright and Holden's Black Country Mild (£3.20).

Real Ale Ray left this review about Globe Inn

A large traditional pub, with a huge interior. The main bar over on the left was in dark mahogany and also has a heavy brass rail complete with lion head shaped brackets similar to the Merchants Tavern. Another unusual feature, were the rows of mirrors inserted along the bar front. Three ales on handpump on our visit, so went for the Maxim Brewery Double Maxim. Holdens Mild and Bass were the other choices.

A fine pub serving up to 4 cask ales. Descriptions elsewhere. A variety of horsey pictures dotted around and thankfully it was too early for the sport of kings to be showing on the telly.

Bucking Fastard left this review about Globe Inn

A fine building from the outside, the liberal use of mirrors and chrome internally lessen the appeal, despite a traditional fireplace with glazed tiles.Nothing wrong with my pint of Bass either, but I was a little underwhelmed on my visit.

The Victorian exterior is impressive but the interior perhaps less so. It's a large open plan area which put me in mind of a Toby Inn. A couple of televisions were showing the racing channel and there seems to be an interest in the sport of Kings with various pictures showing races and the odd day out advertised.
There are rooms here and I'd guess that they'll do functions as well.
Ales were Worthington Cask, Holdens Mild, GK Alepril Fool and a very acceptable pint of Bass.
Ok for a quick pint or two but I'd probably head over the road to The Sir Robert Peel for a longer stay.

Soup Dragon left this review about Globe Inn

Fantastic terracotta Victorian exterior. Large open plan interior that was decorated well - wallpaper and not trendy plain walls! It was clean and i found the service fine.

The Beer was the usual stuff, with three handpulls; Pedigree, Bass and a guest that was handwritten - In Dark 3.8%, i think. Thankfully i took a sojourn to the bogs at the right time, as i passed a Holden's MILD pull! Excellent, as ever.

The MILD would mean i would always pop into this pub, as they said it was a regular beer. However, it was the pub of the day due to the fact we could get in, breathe, get a seat and hear each other.

Superb pub. Before 1990's this pub was left for dead. Then Landlord took over Globe and transformed into grade listed pub (Also they do have Bed and Breakfast rooms) One real ale always served. They do have function room for private parties/meetings. Can be packed on luchtimes because of proximty to college just up the hill
