A new review is required, as the Joules Brewery have refurbished and re-arranged the pub as promised - improving the pub immensely. As previously stated, the pub is a late Georgian looking terraced pub in undressed brick with a brown frontage and paintwork. The dormer windows have gothic-like canopies more akin to the Victorian style. It has a front and rear patio areas.

The interior has three rooms. The smaller bar room has now been broken into two rooms served by a central bar. These are lounge/bars and are in white wood panel with a wood ceiling and wood floor, with a brick wall with a stove fire in the front room, which is supported by an iron post. The walls are decorated with the odd print and painting, with mirrors and Joules Brewery memorabilia and there are brown seats and stools. The annex at the back is still there. It is now in white, wood panel and exposed brick walls, with one in red that houses a stove fire. The ceiling is again wood, with fake tile floor. The seats are again brown, with a few high stools and there are wood tables. There are some prints on the walls. The whole place is tidy and they do food at times, though i didn't eat so i can't comment on that. There was no TV or background music. The service was friendly and the clientele consisted of maturer people and the odd dog.

Beer; usual tap stuff with Joules Pale Ale, Blonde and a very good Slumbering Monk on handpull

A vast improvement to my last vist; Joules run comfy pubs, which both traditionalists and those that like a contemporary look. I would visit anytime i was in Stafford. Handy after researching at the Record Office.
