Some people express dismay at the way Joules "restore" their pubs, and I must admit to having shuddered at the Shakespeare in Bridgnorth, but I quite liked the way this one is presented; my Stafford friend, who remembers how it was before, dissents from this view. Whatever, I found it a pleasant place despite the slightly "off" screens near the table where we sat, and I enjoyed the beer even more. I didn't get a full list or photo of the Joules beers available: suffice to say that I went for the Pale and my friends both had the No.6 winter warmer (which I'd already tried in Tamworth on my way here). We all agreed the beers were in excellent condition, and I thought the service was friendly.

As described by others below, this former inn, still a Joule’s outlet, has a good pub feel to it and was a pleasure to visit. Food looked good, the young staff were pleasant and the locals welcoming. They run weekly quiz and folk nights. I had pints of Joule’s IPA and Pure Blonde, both in perfect condition. An excellent pub and a definite for inclusion in a crawl.

Traditional pub feel but with modern fittings, kitted-out by Joules after purchase in 2011. Two bars serving two rooms, the front room is square and cosy with plenty of wood trim and padded booth bench seating. The rear part of the pub is an unusual tight zig zag layout, cold and less welcoming, with ITV on the telly to an audience of nil. Rear patio noted and pub is dog friendly. Five pumps with four Joules beers on; my Pale was extremely good, though the down-at-the-mouth bar lady wasn't in the mood for a convivial exchange. A few better class locals in which gave the place a relaxed feel. A nice pub and good beer but the glum service let it down, I felt like the stranger in town. 7.5

Better pub with a good selection of Joules ales to be had but nothing too strong.

Traditional pub built in 1830 and now under the supervision of Joules Brewery. The front room was my favourite part of the pub, which had a timber floor and log burning stove, very handy for a winter's evenings beer. Four Joules beers on handpump and one guest Slate Beer brewed by Joules, which was decent enough.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Ye Olde Rose & Crown

A Joule's Brewery pub, housed in an old building and given an alehouse-style makeover. Multiple rooms, including two bars, and all justifiably busy on a Friday evening. Slightly curious route to the upstairs toilets via the courtyard, presumably to open up more space at ground-floor level. Full range of real ales on handpump, including the splendid Old No 6 winter warmer (£3.10). Well worth a visit if visiting the city.

If you're familiar with Joules pubs then you'll know what to expect beerwise. This is decent enough place and though it only had 1 guest ale on today its worth a visit.

This is a nice old pub that has been restored rather well without spoiling it. You enter through a short tiled passageway then there is the "public" bar on the left and a quieter bar further on down a step to the left. The bar servery covers both of these and then there is a further small area further back where I took my pint. I would imagine the toilets here used to be of the outside variety. You still have to brave the elements to a degree as there is a new metal staircase in the back yard leading up to modern indoor toilets.
The bar had four Joule's beer on Hop Shine, Pale, Blond and Slumbering Monk plus a cider. I had a pint of the Pale (£3.10) which was in excellent nick, as good as you're likely to find it. I don't find Joule's beers all that interesting but their pubs seem to be good and this one is first class.

Modernised interior but keeping rustic elements this is a nice drinking house. Front snug/smoke room opened up and a larger bar area on the right.

There are lots of old signs and pictures and mirrors on the walls.

A joules Brewery pub, a good blend of old & new
