Soup Dragon left this review about Saracens Head

A nice detached white painted canalside cottage style pub/eatery, with conservatory at the back for dining and beer garden.

The interior has three areas and is in an L-shape around the bar. To the right on entry, through a brick lined arch, there is the bar area, with a brick fireplace, a few prints, mirror and some whiskey bottles in containers for interest and a TV that wasn’t on. The décor here is the same as the rest of the pub, which is white and wood panel, with the upper wall and ceiling in a light chocolateish colour. The main entrance actually takes you into a lounge, which has a couple of brick fireplaces, a couple of mirrors, some plates, more whiskey bottles and a couple of chairs in which you can envisage Holmes and Watson debating the whereabouts of the Irene Adler. Pass these and you get to a two-part dining area, part in the main pub, part in the conservatory. I didn’t eat so cant comment on the food. The service was friendly and the clientele mixed, both eating and drinking too. The music was general and at a decent level.

Beer; tap stuff with Banks’s MILD and Pedigree, GK IPA and a reasonable Holden’s Golden Glow on handpull.

This was a nice place, again, like the Woolpack in Weston. A place to try the beer and food, particularly on a nice day, as it’s a nice garden
