The Plum Pudding is a stand alone pub that is very close to the Spode Cottage.
Once inside there is a L shaped room with the bar facing, the room is carpeted and the seating a mix of leather settees and normal tables and chairs.
The room was quite busy with both drinkers and diners on our Saturday afternoon visit.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Bass, this was a decent enough drink.
This is not really my sort of pub,but drinkers are made just as welcome here.

We were on a canal trip and stopped right outside the Plum Pudding where we were able to use their private moorings. It is still an Italian restaurant - Nov 2010. Welcome was very friendly, restaurant was warm (very important when you have spent the day in the cold on a barge), fine range of ales including handpull and a wide choice on the menu plus a big board of specials. Food was superb - mouthwatering and tasty, we had a selection of home made dishes which were worth waiting for - cooking 8 meals fresh to order obviously took a little while. Try the 'healthy' garlic bread while you wait.Service was very good and personal. Kids loved this approach and loved even more the desserts - very nice ice creams but go for the home made desserts - after 8 cheesecake!!
Excellent place to visit, very much fresh food and very convenient when barging.

This was a fantastic place to eat in the local area, being the only pub in Armitage/ Handsacre that did home-cooked food. The menu was Italian-themed and really tasty. I personally love the decor- it has a really smart modern interior and the staff are fantastic.

Recently this pub has changed hands and it is now an Indian restaurant which is really disappointing and certainly not my choice of food.

I have a lot of sympathy with Soup Dragons views but having eaten here ,I will say that the food is good in terms of both quality and value.I have not been swayed by the very attractive waitress.

A fantastic setting, next to the canal. The exterior of the pub, in brick and plum and white looks quite nice, with a patio out the back.

Sadly, thats where the nice bit ends - however, this is completely a restaurant now, not a pub and i visited it for its beer. The interior is ultra-horridly modern, sofas, arty tosh, half backed seats, gren, red and white walls, white ceiling. The small saving graces were the red ceramic fireplace and the service. I did see a few small round tables from its pub days too.

Beer; just the pretty common Black Sheep bitter on handpull, the rest was tap stuff, with Starpromen lager (i think it is).

As you can guess by my PG nickname, i like traditional places. This was hell for that. Many i am sure will love it, its personal taste not a bad experience i am commenting on here - i just wouldnt want to eat here.

Went with my missus as a birthday treat.
Had recently been renovated and under new management so we decided to book a table. After the soup of the day,we both had the chicken topped with cheese with tomato, we then had cheese and biscuits. The beer I had that night was Wychwood Hobgoblin, I'm not sure that is regular as that's the only time that I went, but there are two ales on. I found both the food and the beer to be of a high standard. With themed nights fully booked well in advance! If you want to take your partner for a romantic night out and like your ale, then this place is for you.
