Steve C left this review about The Crown

The Crown Inn is a small L-shaped Craft Union pub, with seating across the front and up the right faced by an L-shaped bar counter. There’s a dartboard and a couple of high tables behind the bar before steps that lead up to a pool table, another dartboard and the toilets. During my recent Sunday evening visit it was pretty quiet in here, although there were some very drunk young lads playing pool. Televisions are found throughout for airing live sports, but these were all off in favour of some background music. Standard keg was available and the two hand pumps were drawing Tribute and a nice drop of Bass. For a town Centre CU pub this place is actually OK.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crown

Standard town-centre pub, now operated by Craft Union, with a modernised interior only enlivened by some local history photographs and an enlarged old Ordnance Survey map by the pool table in the elevated rear section. Apart from that, the numerous sports TVs dominate the various small seating areas, but there is also a dartboard and a jukebox. Two real ales available on handpump: Tribute (£2.30) and Sharp's Atlantic.

The Crown is a proper looking pub that is on a pedestrianised shopping street.
Once inside there is a single room with the bar facing, there is bench seating to the front and right, the rear area has a couple of normal tables and chairs, there is a raised area to the rear which has a pool table and darts board, the room is carpeted.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Pedigree, this was a decent drink and cheap at £2.30 a pint.
The pub was quite busy with a good bunch of regulars on our Saturday dinner visit.
I was quite happy having a drink in a proper old pub like this.

A nice little terraced brick build, with some white rendering, black paintwork and etched windows. There is a nice old Butlers sign painted on the brick between the upper windows and a nice rear patio area.

The interior is open plan around the bar that faces you on entry - so the pub is bigger than it looks at first. There is a raised area at the back with a pool table and dart board. The decor is white with brown painted wood panel and there is a TV (had the footy on) and a nice little fireplace. There were a few prints on the walls. The service was very friendly, but there was no other clientele.

Beer; basic tap stuff, no MILD or real ale. I had a coke.

A nice traditional ,pub with all the pub games and things you may want. Sadly, the lack of real ale and MILD was a shame for me. If you drink keg stuff, i urge you to try it, i think you would really like it - if not, please get some real ale in, or a MILD and like Arnie....... I'll be back.
