Soup Dragon left this review about The Turnpike

A dull 70s/80s brick build estate pub in a shopping area, with patio

The interior is open plan, as it is a Marston's gastropub. So, food orientated, it has the English and French mustard coloured walls, with some red and brick, as well as the often seen snazzy carpet. The interest is supplied by a mix of old photos and arty pictures. The food we ordered was better than functional, the service was fine and the clientele mixed, including families. There was Sky TV for the sport and i saw a dartboard lurking in the corner.

Beer; tap stuff, including a decent Banks's MILD, along with a fair Pedigree, Marston's Ugly Sister and an untried Banks's bitter on handpull

An unispiring exterior and common type interior, but the pub had friendly service, there was fair real ale, keg MILD and the food was better than functional. I have been to far worse.
