Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Plough
Canal-side pub with a partly opened-out, slightly split-level, L-shaped layout with the bar seating area extending across the frontage and the dining areas down a few steps on the left-hand side. Mix of furniture, old and new, and semi-traditional decoration in quite dark interior enlivened by rows of white fairy lights. Doom Bar, Landlord, Rev James and Proper Job (£4.60).

Again, I won't replicate Mr Dragon's accurate description below other than to add that in addition to the laid tables of the restaurant area, there is a reasonable size space for boozing alone and the staff all seem perfectly happy that it is used as such.
Service here was excellent and friendly. The main business here is obviously food and it was substantial, imaginative, decent value and very good. I had probably the best ploughman's I've ever had here. You may well say this isn't an easy one to mess up but it's surprising how many do and this one was exceptional.
Ale was limited to Speckled Hen and Landlord which leads to a sinking feeling in so many places but the surprise here was the very high quality Landlord. Not an easy trick to pull off, especially in a boozer focused on food, but it was the best Landlord I've had in a long time and perfectly presented. I would definitely return for the both the beer and the food.
UPDATE April 2011
Regrettably, I did return and was very disappointed. The interior remains unchanged and I can't comment on the food as I didn't eat and there wasn't any evidence of menus to peruse. The service, previously friendly and professional, was neither of these and disinterested is perhaps the best word.
Only one handpump this time which had a Celtic Gold pump clip on but no indication as to which brewery this came from. The beer was a dark brown bitter colour served in an Old Speckled Hen glass with a very distinctive 'Greene King' flavour which was exactly like Old Speckled. If it walks and quacks like a duck.......
Very disappointing and I won't return.
UPDATE April 2012
As noted by Mr Fastard, a new and friendly team has just taken the place over, it having been closed since the previous September.It has been nicely freshened up without losing character. Of note on a bitter Wednesday lunchtime was a welcoming real fire to add to the warm welcome from behind the bar.
Three ales on: Old Speckled Hen, Banks Mild and a good pint of TT Landlord.
We didn't eat but I'd be happy to and the food offer combined with a decent pint of Landlord makes the Plough a worthy stopping point again.

I liked the interior with a traditional feel and not dominated by dining tables.The bar area is the the right of the entrance and has a quarry tiled floor with a few tables looking out over the car park where you can sit for a beer or two even if not dining.There is a lower level dining area with a large recess creating a restaurant feel to this part of the pub.The menu notes that all meat is supplied by a local butcher from farms in the viscinity and the lunchtime snack menu was very good value,well cooked and surprisingly substantial.The main menu contained some interesting looking dishes.No Brake Brothers fare in here thank goodness.Very good TT Landlord washed down the grub and I would say this is the best canalside pub for many miles,well worth a visit and puts The Swan at Fradley Junction to shame.

This just goes to show how much a change of stewardship can change the experience at a pub.Mr Phat lists the crimes,The Plough is guilty as charged.

A new team have taken over after a long period of closure and have immediately improved the offering.There were three real ales available with a good pint of TT Landlord at £3.The welcome was warm and enthusiastic.Food will always be the main draw here,but with a dart board reinstated and some new furniture this is a pub worth popping into for a beer.The building is boarded by The Coventry Canal.

From the outside, it is a brick built, smart looking, tranditional country pub and restaurant, also sited by the canal. The interior is that treny plain wall, with white painted wood, half arm chair seats. The service was fine. Music was a decent level. The place is a comfy restaurant slightly more than a pub.
The beers were the usual, backed up with Spekky Hen and Landlord on the handpull. I went for Bass MILD, which was fine.
I would happily eat here, but wouldn't go purely for beer
