I arrived at the Farmers Arms as the doors opened at 16:00 on a recent midweek afternoon so I was the only customer. There is a small seating area with a fireplace and television in the front window to the left of the central entrance. In the right-hand front window is more seating at the end of the bar counter that runs up the right-hand wall. This bar counter faces a seating area to the left where there’s another fireplace and television. At the rear is a pool table and DJ booth, as well at least one more television, which was showing Sky Sports News. Three of the four hand pumps were in operation drawing Bass and Wainwright alongside the local Merlins Brewery’s Merlins Gold. Standard and premium keg were also available alongside Beavertown Neck Oil. It’s hard to judge a pub when you’re the only customer, but the service was friendly and I got the feeling that this is a well-supported local high street boozer that would be worth another visit if in the area.
