Will Larter left this review about Dog & Partridge

No longer "Ye Olde" Dog & Partridge, it seems. The building looks traditional, but the interior has been re-imagined, to put it kindly. Chef & Brewer are seemingly aiming for the top end of the dining pub market, which I often find a bit intimidating, but my notes made at the time say that I was made welcome. There are multiple rooms on several different levels, with most tables set for dining, but I was able to find somewhere to sit with my beer. The cask beers were all from Greene King and friends, with Abbot and IPA, plus St Austell Tribute and (as it was December) Rocking Rudolf. My half of Tribute was in "top condition", my notes tell me, though priced at £4.60/pint in 2021 it certainly should have been.

This is a Greene King Chef & Brewer chain pub/eatery with an impressive exterior. It is a multi-building pub, with a nice part black timbered frontage with jetty. It has several patio areas. Sadly, the inside has been ripped out, and despite the black beams inside it is devoid of feeling. Lots of areas for dining, i just went outside as it was so dull and pretentious. Service OK, few in. Beer, tap stuff with 4 real ales: GK IPA, Abbot, Golden Hen (flat and £2.05 for a half) and their own beer (but had lost interest by this stage. Hated it.

This is an ancient pub that is part of the Chef & Brewer chain now owned by Greene King. Inside it's a rambling Olde Worlde wooden floored place with various rooms and areas much of them set out for dining. It wasn't that busy late on a dank miserable February afternoon.
The bar has four hand pumps which had the dismal choice of GK Abbot & IPA, Doom Bore and Wadworth's 6X. I went for the Abbot which cost an exorbitant £4.02. I certainly wouldn't bother returning here.

Ye Olde Dog and Partridge is an old looking black and white fronted pub that looks quite nice.
Once inside the pub was very smart and a bit too upmarket for my liking, there were plush carpets and the pub was also doing meals, there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Marstons Pedigree and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Morland bitter.
This was a nice very comfortable pub that was better suited for older people and business types rather than myself.
