A wonderful detached brick 18th/19th century build, with beer garden and marquee for large functions.

The pub has two rooms, with a separate dining and meeting room. The two pub rooms are in white and beam look, with a large brick fireplace in the bar and a smaller one in the lounge - both lit and welcoming. Decoration was supplied by hunting memorabilia (the Meynells being 'big' in the Staffordshire hunt for generations), which will not be to everyone's taste. There is also a old plan of the Hoar Cross estate mounted on the wall - enough to give any archivist kittens. Service was functional, but there was a big Xmas meal going on and the clientele were local, friendly enough retired and current professional types, sporting an array of jumpers!

Beer; tap stuff, with Pedigree and a decent Cottage Brewery Xmas Ale on handpull.

I liked it here, traditional and good beer. I have not tried the food.

Very cosy pub in a quaint rural village. Serves Pedigree + 2 guests. Staff and locals are friendly. Gets packed at the weekends. Dogs welcome in bar. Close to Jackson's Bank forest for walkers.
