The George and Dragon is a fairly large bare brick built pub that loks decent enough from the outside.
Once inside there was a small drinking area to the front right and a larger area past this that was set aside for diners,there were a few seating bays that faced the bar these had very comfortable bench seats and small stools,there was a a games type room to the rear left.
The pub was carpeted throughout and looked quite smart in my opinion.
This pub is a Marstons tied house and there were five real ales on the bar i had a drink of Marstons Burton bitter which was a decent enough drink the ohter beers were Pedigree,Banks's bitter,Ringwood Fortyniner and Jennings Cumberland.
The pub was very busy with a good mix of customers.
I quite liked this pub has it had a good lively atmosphere.

The George and Dragon is a very traditional, solid brick built, village local.
Inside there's a small drinking area to the right beyond which is a larger room given over to dining. Ahead is the bar next to which is a cosy snug area with a larger room to the left and a slightly shabby conservatory area at the back. It's all very traditional with carpeted floors, the odd brick fireplace and solid wood furniture.
The welcome was friendly and even on a Monday lunchtime trade was reasonably brisk with a number of people going for the standard but well priced pub grub.
Beer was all from the Marstons range: Jennings Snecklifter and Cumberland, Pedigree and Burton Bitter and Banks Bitter. Both the Ped and the Snecklifter were in good shape.
A friendly and reliable stop for a well kept pint.

ORIGINAL REVIEW May 2011
A traditional village pub both in the exterior and the interior layout with several rooms to either side of the central bar.To the extreme left and the far right of the building ,there are areas set up for dining ,but there were two lounge sections where you can sit and drink quite happily.I agree with Mr Soup that a game of darts would have be out of the question.
The three handpumps were dispensing Marston's Burton Bitter,Pedigree and Banks's Bitter in good nick.Food is the main focus and I was kept waiting at the bar quite a while,and I also felt closely observed by the locals somewhat thrown by a stranger in their midst.There were also warning notices around many walls concerning ,among other issues, the hygene consequences of allowing dogs on the furnishings.Another sign advertised some live music ,an acoustic session I believed.
Although in the GBG ,the ale range was standard Marston's fare so not particularly noteworthy.
UPDATE
Now with a much fuller range of up to 5 ales from the Marston's "portfolio",the atmosphere was much more upbeat than my last trip.The three snug like areas running from the bar are really for drinkers while the side lounge is set up for diners.Although I didn't eat,the menu offered various pub grub classics and some small portion options well below £5 which looked good value.Many diners were in ,I guess a good sign.At the rear of the pub on the way to the loos is a small conservatory area with an upright piano ,a few seats and a flat screen if you want to catch sport.
There is a lot of military pictures and prints on the walls given the proximity to the National Memorial Arboretum,and I was pleased to be able to upgrade my rating to this very traditional public house.

A large brick build with small seating area outside on the street. The interior is a nesting of 5 rooms, in which there were a TV, dartboard etc, but sadly they all seem to be set up for food. You would have killed someone had you tried to play darts! The decor was red and white, with lots of different kinds of picture and memorabilia on the walls, as well as books on the shelves. Lots of ornaments as well, and a nice fireplace in the one room. Service was functional, maybe as it was rammed. Clientele was mixed to the more mature. Beer; tap stuff with three handpulls; Burton Bitter, Pedigree and a fabulous pint of Wychwood Beewyched. I would have liked this place better if there were less people in, as i am miserable. I would go again
