The Boy and Barrel is situated just off the high strret down a small alley.
Once inside you had to go up a few steps to get into the main room,this room was oblong in shape with the bar facing,there was a DJ rig to the right of the bar and bench seating on the left side with chairs.
There was a fairly big area up a few steps to the left,this area had a pool table in it with some tables and chairs.
There were no real ales on the bar,the keg options were Stones bitter which i had,this was decent enough,the other beer was John Smiths smooth crap.
There were no Samuels Smiths beers on the bar and the barmaid was alive on my visit.
This is a comfortable enough pub to pop into if shopping in Mexborough.

A selection of Samuel Smiths beers available on draught,friendly barmaid however sadly dead when visited.
