Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Sun Inn

Large family-friendly chain pub sitting in a prominent junction of 2 A-roads heading out to the north-west of Doncaster.

This is a Marston's pub that has recently started stocking real ale again. Hobgoblin Gold was the ale on for my visit. There are numerous seating areas, including a bar area with darts board and pool table at the right-hand end. The bar itself is lengthy, being spread along the rear wall.

There appears to be a focus on dining here, but being mid-afternoon, only drinkers were present and it was quite quiet, apart from TV screens blaring out the horse racing from Doncaster itself. Music was also competing with the TVs. I never quite see the point of having both music and TVs pumping out noise. It's hardly relaxing and you can't enjoy either.

A slightly better than average pub in a town were you are hard pressed to find a nice one. The sun is a Marstons pub that looks a lot more generic on the outside than it is inside. Inside there is a much more locals feel about the place with older decor and a more traditional style than the outside would suggest teetering on shabby. this pub does a fair bit of food trade but does have four pumps on the bar with a sign showing Jennings cumberland available at £2.49. this was not available on my visit instead having the option of Hobgoblin or hobgoblin gold. I opted for the former and this was ok but I have had a lot better hobgoblin.
A nice enough pub for these parts and would call again if in the area purely through lack of better alternative. Better options are found in the city centre.

my food was okay my grandmothers soup wasn't soup but some form of vegetable stew and when we took my two year old cousin out to play in the play park there were large pieces of glass scattered all around the climbing frame. down right dangerous. when we told a staff member about it she took at least ten minutes to come outside and then she did nothing... the play park was covered in rubbish its disgusting.
