Real Ale Ray left this review about The Crown Inn

Another good community pub in the village, that's worth a visit. This is a well kept two roomed pub, with the right hand side lounge mainly set up for dining. We sat in the comfortable left hand side lounge which had a relaxed atmosphere. The décor in here had red upholstered bench seating, pastel green painted walls, with sage green painted woodwork. The bar area was finished in oak and had three hand pumps serving, Acorn Saint George, Welbeck Abbey and Stancill Stainless. We went for the Stancill, which was in great condition at priced at £2.80 a pint.

Will Larter left this review about The Crown Inn

A two roomed pub with the bar making an appearance in both. Also making an appearance were some cooking smells left over from dinner time (I checked both rooms - the one on the right was empty apart from the smell, the one on the left had people in it too). There were three real ales available and we went for the Acorn Pretty Green, which was pretty good, as it happens. Not sure I'd be hurrying back to this or its near neighbour if in Elsecar again, despite their proximity to the station. The Market is ten times better than either of them - just be prepared for the long uphill stretch for your train home.
