Will Larter left this review about The Hope & Anchor

Formerly a two-roomed pub but long since opened out into a single room with a central bar counter. Two hand pumps but one looked disused and the other had Bombardier. This can be a good beer when well kept, but this was a little past its best, although neither complainable nor undrinkable (NBSS 2.5).

Bit of a rough hole with the bar in the middle of two rooms. Various hand pumps, all reversed, so effectively a keg pub.

Steve C left this review about Hope & Anchor

The Hope and Anchor is a local’s boozer with U shaped bar that supports a standard keg range and four hand pumps. During a recent Wednesday evening visit two of these were unused which left Timothy Taylor’s Black Sheep and Sharp’s Doom Bar as the cask ale options. On the left rear wall is a dartboard, as is a second on a raised area to the right of the entrance. Behind the bar is a pool table and the televisions throughout were all off. I didn’t see any live sport advertised, but this seems like the sort of pub that would have it. Out the back is a patio area with some covered seating.
I thought this pub to be unremarkable, although it was nice to get a proper friendly welcome from the landlady. I thought this to be one of the better pubs in Grimsby, where the best pub by far is a Wetherspoons.

Alan Winfield left this review about Hope & Anchor

The Hope and Anchor is just off the town centre and this pub used to be a Tetleys tied house.
Now it is a typical town pub with sky sports showing.
