Another rough hole. I entered from the railway side to find the bar to the left and various people in there swearing away. Just keg, of course.

The Duke of Wellington is a long thin pub with lived in traditional décor. The bar long the rear wall in the right-hand side of the pub faces seating that runs under the front windows. To the left of the bar is a pool table and to the left of the pub is a car park separated from the pub by some picnic tables and a covered smoking area. A large beer garden is advertised which I did not see. Listed on the events board in the toilet: Monday: Monday Club (16:00 – 19:00); Tuesday: Chill Out Tuesday; Wednesday: Free pool and jukebox; Thursday: Karaoke; Friday: DJ Paddy (19:00-23:00); Saturday: Live entertainment (20:00 – 22:00) Sunday: Live entertainment (15:00 – 17:00 and 18:00 – 20:00). My visit was on a recent Wednesday when two other customers decided to take advantage of the free pool and jukebox.
The bar is stocked with standard keg and two of the three hand pumps was unused leaving Wells Bombardier as the lone cask ale option. I didn’t see any food advertised. Unfortunately, the very friendly service still will not tempt me back to this unremarkable pub.

This is a scruffy town centre boozer with loud pop music. I called in here to slake my thirst having just got off the train. There are four hand pumps but just Bombardier on at the time of my visit. (Something called Duke's Tipple was due on later, but no clue as to where it is brewed.) Service was very slow (too busy talking on the phone). I'm pretty sure I won't be back unless there's a drastic change in attitude towards customer service (probably when hell has frozen over).

The Duke of Wellington used to be a Stones tied house that is a short walk from the town centre.
This pub now has a gordy green frontage which makes it stand out but is not to my taste.
I am not sure what beer this pub now sells.
