As described below the pub has 17th Century roots and is largely Georgian above that. The ground floor has been opened out to form a contiguous trio of rooms. There is a comfy lounge at the front, a public bar and saloon area with a TV behind. There is a garden at the back, mainly used by smokers but it could be a pleasant outside area. The bar has an inglenook and a mix of flooring styles, low ceilings, as well as structural timbers on display giving it a traditional, ancient feel, though it’s slightly marred by the stack of high chairs for toddlers. There is a tiny car park opposite, only room for 6 cars. Ale is foremost here – Plain Ales IPA, Sharp’s Sea Fury and Sharp’s Own, and Otter Amber are on draught, plus Erdinger Pils alongside the megekag pumps. Food is also well done – a bistro style menu, not cheap though. They also do food theme nights: Burger Mondays, Steak Tuesdays and pies on Wednesday. An excellent pub, and certainly the best all-rounder in Wincanton.

Good little town centre pub - cosy and welcoming with lots of little nooks and crannies. Friendly staff and well kept ales on three pumps. Didn't eat but menu is a good range of normal pub grub at reasonable prices. Not 10/10 like the last review (Steve bumping up his own pub with his sole review perhaps?) - no, that's just bloody silly - but it's a realistic good 6/10.

The Nog Inn, an unusual historic inn. This is a free house with plenty of original features, the oldest parts of which date back to the 1600's. With a secluded peaceful garden for the summer months and original inglenook fireplace, roaring away in the winter, you'll feel at home while you try out one of our imported lagers or take advantage of our fabulous range of wine.

Just 2 minutes from the A303 and a handy stop off point for the weary traveller requiring some refreshment and hot, home cooked food before continuing on their journey.

Features such as a tranquil beer garden and wide selections of wine, cask ale and whisky are why the locals and those passing by, keep coming back to The Nog Inn.
