E TA left this review about The York Inn

A large village pub dating from the Georgian period, well and truly off the beaten track. The building’s interior has been opened out to form a single large space broken up by remaining stone pillars and low walls. It’s mostly carpeted, the walls are a mix of exposed stone and plaster, and there are structural timbers on display. There are gaming machines and TV screens dotted around, and there is a pool table in a side room. One side of the pub forms a restaurant area serving home-cooked food which isn’t cheap but does represent good value for money. There is a small paved yard at the back which is only really any use as a smoking area, and there is limited parking at the front. The landlady was very sociable, and she made time to come over and chat. There were 4 ales on – Sharp’s Sea Fury, Dartmoor Jail Ale plus Bitter and Amber from Otter. The beers were in very good condition. Worth coming in for food and a few beers if you’re in the area, and it’s on the 2019 Somerset Ale Trail.

A relaxing village inn in the blackdown hills. Excellent base station for cyclist and ramblers. Good home cooking and real ales match the character of this village inn. Bed & Full English Breakfast, superb.
