An end of terrace 17th Century town local, now open plan. The bar is L-shaped, has a pool table at one end and an inglenook with a woodburner at the other. It has tiled floors and exposed ceiling timbers, the latter adorned with various bric-a-brac. There is a small garden at the back, mainly used by smokers. Four handpumps on the bar, but only 2 were active, these dispensing Pride and Abbott, both in fair condition. Also available were Guinness, Madri, Carling, and ciders from Inch and Orchard Thieves. Eating was a bit cramped due to the funeral party which was occupying most of the bar. The staff were not that welcoming, but there was a strong local cadre and they were very happy to sit with us and chat. A good basic boozer and a decent local which could benefit from a better beer choice.
