Will Larter left this review about The Church Inn

I was interested in seeing this pub as it is on Camra's inventory of pubs with interiors of historical interest. The owners here are less interested, and have seemingly done their best to make a quick buck without bothering about such unimportant details. Entrance to the pub is now through the garden (Covid-19 regulations, don't you know), with its fake wisteria (helps to stave off viruses), which has been mostly covered and now incorporates a coffee shop (helps to stave off viruses - erm - helps to make money during periods of restriction).

On entering the actual pub it seemed to me to be stiflingly hot, though this may have been because I had walked from Bramhall fairly briskly, but surely one open window wouldn't have hurt (helps to stave off viruses). Staff were well trained to appear friendly, and served my half of Robinsons Cumbria Way uninterestedly - the other beers were also uninteresting. The whole pub seemed to have been set up for dining, but I had seen a sign for a snug; when I followed it, I found another room with three tables...and a dart board. Games in a snug?

I returned to the artificial beer garden to escape the oppressive heat, but the only tables free were high ones. High tables in a beer garden?

I didn't observe any features that would have interested me, but that's partly because I couldn't wait to get out of here.
