Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Cock Hotel

Former coaching inn, now a Joule's pub and still a hotel, and whilst looking somewhat run-down in the main bar (especially the bench seating) this also means that many heritage features remain. For example, the curved bay window at the end of the smaller bar (formerly the lounge) is certainly unusual, and the dark wood-panelling in the entrance lobby retains some character. More seating can be found further back, with the former dining room now acting more as a lounge. With two banks of four handpumps, I found three of the brewery's own beers - Pure Blonde, Pale Ale (£3.30) and Slumbering Monk - plus four guests from Hobson's, Ludlow, Izaak Walton and Boss Brewing.

A few minor changes here , it is now a Joules pub so 4 of the 8 handpulls are now given over to there own beers , the other pulls had beers from Salopian , Holdens ,and 2 from Hobsons , the Twisted Spire(£3.50)was just about OK .
A few minor cosmetic changes aside its much the same .

An old coaching inn near the football ground that retains a good bit of history (CAMRA Inventory listed) despite its outwardly plain appearance; three rooms separated by a lovely wood panelled lobby akin to an old hotel. The right-hand room is a slightly shabby lounge with knackered orange carpet, large curved bay window and fabric banquettes (it also, perhaps oddly, hosts a Belgian beer bar with 80+ selection). The main bar has embossed wallpaper, strung dried hops and pew seating. And round the side is a nice lounge diner with wood panelled walls, en route to the bogs. No screens or machines as far as I recall. Eight pumps with all 7 ales from micros and a cider. My first choice, Gorgeous Ruby, was a less-than-gorgeous musty-tasting disappointment but the Green Duck Flame of the West was a lot better. Enjoyed the service from the old skool guv’nor behind the bar. An enjoyable and traditional pub that I’d make an effort to do again though I have a nagging doubt whether there are one or two more ales available than the throughput justifies. (visited June)

We entered the pub from the carpark side along Holyhead road, which used to be the main route from Holyhead to Birmingham. Once through the doors you enter an L shaped lounge and bar, all of which is traditional in style and décor. There was a wood burning stove, near the entrance, hops hanging from the ceiling and some very interesting black and white photos of the pub from yesteryear. Another feature was the bay windows in the front room, which were curved and acid etched patterned in full pub regalia. This particular front room was named the Belgium bar and had three kegs, dispensing three different types of Stella Artois, which I find quite amusing. Eight handpumps, one of which was a cider. Prices were very reasonable so some serious sampling went on here.

There are lots of features to enjoy here,it's all very traditional as you might expect at a former coaching inn on Watling Street. The main bar room has bench seating, there is a central lobby with a small reception desk and stairs to the accomodation, while the front bar has a very fine curved front window and more bench seating and it's own bar,but just offering kegged beers. This room gives views up the road towards AFC Telford's ground,so expect match days to bring in some extra trade.
Towards the rear is an authentic dining room with a wood burner and make sure you check out the gents for its very fine Adamant porcelain urinals.
The bar room has 8 handpumps drawing on my visit Hobsons Best and Champion Mild,Six Bells Zen,Green Duck Flame of the West,Goffs Lancer,Georgeous Beer Ruby Porter (fair),Shropshire Legends Mermaid Gold and a Thatchers real cider.
Great interior, maybe throughput may not be enough to guarentee the highest ale quality from 7 pumps but well worth a visit if crawling the area.

What a gorgeous pub. Multi-roomed and oozing history and quality, it's a pub to savour, not for a brief stop on a beer tour of the villages along the railway line between here and Wolverhampton. The beer offering was stupendous, but I was a little unlucky in that my Hobsons Dark Mild was just a little past its best. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their beers, though. I made a mental note to come back for a longer visit another time.

Excellent old coaching inn near to the AFC Telford United ground. I drank in the main bar area which was packed with FC United fans (We must be better behaved than Sheff Hatters Luton fans as we weren't turned away!) The Ludlow and the Hobsons beers were on fine form and a friendly atmosphere prevailed.

Aqualung . left this review about Cock Hotel

This is an old coaching inn which as the Holyhead Road street sign outside testifies is right on the old A5 which starts at Marble Arch and ends at Holyhead. Fittingly the route through some of Snowdonia's highest mountains and across the Menai Straits was engineered by Thomas Telford the Scotsman whose name the new town celebrates. This section of road is now the rather unglamorous B5061.
Going through the door it is clear that it was meant more as a hotel than a pub with a staircase in front of you a room on the right that I assume is the Belgian Beer bar and the main bar on the left. I concentrated on this and found a typical ale-house style room with bare floorboards, not the overbearing trendiness that seems to be spreading from Islington & Hackney to every part of London but more solid and traditional with lots of hops hanging from above. The eight hand pumps on the bar had a cider, one unused, the regular Hobson's Mild & Bitter, Goff's White Knight, Six Bells Cloud Nine and Ludlow Black Christmas (rebadged Black Knight) & Stairway. The turned clip on the unavailable hand pump looked like it was a Goff's one being exactly the same size and shape, Goff's is a brewery that have been around for over twenty years now and this is the second GBG listed pub in this area that I've found with their beers. I've never found them to be anything other than ordinary and they are not local to here at all, so how come? I hope it doesn't all just come down to discounts as I know for a fact there are better brewers locally.
I tried three of the beers on offer, Cloud Nine (£3.12), Black Christmas & Stairway (£3.38). All three were in fine condition, although the Cloud Nine was pedestrian compared to the two Ludlow offerings. The Hobson's Mild & Bitter are £2.49 and £2.79 here which makes the other prices seem a bit steep. Other than that and the Goff's question I enjoyed this pub and would gladly return.
