E TA left this review about The Blue Pig

Still the Blue Pig, someone is still trying unsuccessfully to change the name to the Shropshire Arms, as evinced by their What?ub entry. The interior is as described by Ogwyn, below, the stage by the dartboard being used to host a live act. Outside there is a small paved smoking area and a garden which makes a token effort to be child friendly. Views over the lake are pleasant, especially during twilight hours, though sadly the traffic noise makes it less tolerable than it could be. Only one ale on, Marston’s Saddle Tank, which was in very good condition. It’s well worth a visit for the ale quality and conviviality.

Oggwyn Great left this review about Blue Pig

The last proper pub in Trench , on the Banks of the Trench Pool , the bar is small and narrow with a raised area to one end for darts , the lounge is small and comfy with views over the pool and large beer garden . 3 ales on Bankss Bitter/Mild and a guest beer always well kept . It is very much a working mans pub , the locals are a friendly bunch , conversation (often lively) is the main entertainment.
The name of this pub is unusual as it is not a corruption of the Blue Boar as are other Blue Pigs , the name comes from the Pig Iron that was transported on the old canal that used to run past the pub (its at the bottom of the Trench incline) the pig iron was generally a blue colour . The Brewery did attempt to rename it the Shropshire Arms but nobody took any notice so Blue Pig it remains
