The Wheatsheaf Stores is an L-shaped boozer with seating by the entrance and a bar counter on the right-hand wall. There is banquette seating in the right rear where a dartboard also resides. Standard and premium keg was available and the four hand pumps were drawing Bass alongside Burton Bridge Brewery’s Bitter and Festival Ale. The fourth was drawing Weston’s Family Vintage cider. The service was very friendly.

After the disappointment of the nearby Cat Inn, I was quite prepared for another here, as the exterior of the pub has been painted in a very unattractive charcoal. Once inside though it's a very nice street corner local with bare boards, bench seating - in good condition - and a range of beers including Bass. As we were on a tour of Stoke hoping to drink Bass wherever we went, this was good news. But a couple of pulls showed that the beer was at the bottom of the barrel. Not to worry, the barman immediately went and changed it for a new barrel and brought the drinks over to us. To be honest, it wasn't as good as we had hoped, but then our first pub of the day had been excellent, so the standard was set high. This beer was lacking in a little of the taste and some of the bitter finish that the best Bass can have, but it was still a nice session beer and I'd have no problem coming here again.

This was a fairly decent little boozer. For real ale it was quite good as there were 5 ales available. Titanic, Wincle and Cross Bay beers plus a dull GK IPA. The pub is basically L-shaped and was friendly enough. I never really noticed the colour scheme so can't comment on that. A good pub for the area.

Fairly modern locals outlet (been decorated since Al’s visit, though the mustard yellow walls were a bit much), which retains the footprint of where the old separate rooms would have been. Clean and tidy inside and pretty bustling (unlike all the other non-Spoons pubs we did in Hanley that evening). Three ales on, Wincle BC Wibbly Wallaby (fine), Bass (good), GK Abbot and a cider (Gwatkin). Under three quid a pint too. Given the general quality of the other local pubs, this one is well-worth prioritizing.

The Wheatsheaf Stores is a small corner pub that is just down from the Cat Inn but on the opposite side of the road.
Once inside the pub had a smallish single room, the bar was on the right side and this area was bare boarded with bench seats and small stools, there was a small area to the front left which was carpeted with two tables and bench seating, the rear area was down one step.
There was a TV to the front right showing horse racing.
There were five real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Winckle Butchered which was a very nice well kept beer, the other beers were Blue Monkey Infinity,Bass,Pedigree and a beer from Three Tuns that i did'nt get the name of.
The pub was quite busy on my mid afternoon visit with mainly real ale drinkers.
I quite liked this pub.
