A respectable corner back street pub, with two large rooms. The bar and lounge found on the right hand side of the entrance and good sized darts room on the back left. The entrance also has a fine example of Victorian floor tiling. Nine handpumps on the bar, with eight in operation on our visit. Three of these were from Castle Rock, which seemed popular with the locals. We went for the Millstone True Grit, which was in good condition and reasonably priced. The landlady was very jolly and welcoming, there was some music playing at a low level, Pink Floyd comes to mind. This pub had a good relaxed atmosphere and also has a rear patio garden.

This is my local. 9 real ales, 4 of which remain constant. The other 5 guests come from breweries far and wide. A proper traditional boozer with a good range of ales. No food is sold except for bar snacks and not really a place for children, I did ask if I could take my youngest daughter and they were fine with it. Well worth a visit if you like good beer.

A decent, friendly real ale pub, very competetive beer prices and landlord and landlady are proud of the standard of drink they serve, give this pub a go and see what you think.

This is how lots of pubs used to look like,the Congress is a back street corner pub that is not that far from the centre of Longton.
Once inside here i went in the bar which was to the left there was also another room,the bar had a pool table in it and there was a good choice of real ales on the bar with six pumps i had a drink of RCH Old Slug Porter and this was a really nice drink there was another beer called 39 Steps but i dont know who brewed it and there was also four more real ales but i car'nt remember the names of them.
I really liked this pub and thought it was well worth the visit.
