The demolished old pub which stood behind the new flats can still be viewed on Google 2009 street view.

ROB Camra left this review about Severn Apprentice

This place has just been taken over by a new landlord. He is currently on a 6 month trial and if all goes well will take on the full lease at the end of the 6 months. It's a fairly nondescript pub with a pool table in the front room and a seating area through an archway that obviously used to be a separate room. It's also a little shabby and needs some TLC, however it's owned by Punch so it's unlikely to get any given the current state they're in. There are live bands on a Friday and free pool through the week. There are also plans afoot to serve Chinese food in the rear seating area. There are two handpumps on the bar but no real ale as yet. He hopes to put one on when trade allows, this is likely to be Bombardier. He likes real ale himself, so the sooner the better would be my opinion, if you can't sell it then drink it yourself. He's a pleasant chatty guy, who has run several pubs in the past and he's trying to get this place out of the doldrums. Best of luck to him, I hope he succeeds.
