This was another of Shrewsbury’s pubs that I visited twice during my visit to the town, initially on the Thursday evening, and then again the afternoon of the following day for the official Pubs Galore crawl and this was definitely one of my favourites in town. A splendid period multi roomed heritage interior as well described below, a slightly scary barmaid (same one on both occasions), very chatty locals and some very well kept Marston Ales.
On Thursday evening with the good lady after getting our beer in the bar parlour she chose us to sit in the period smoke room (Men only until 1975) because she could, although she still was the only female in this room, before moving on to the Poets room. But we never made it all the way round to the lounge. From these side rooms you can order beers ( and the advertised crusty rolls for £2) through the small serving hatch into the bar parlour
Yes, it’s a Marston’s House and the stables Sweet Chariot, Sneck Lifter, Wainrights, Oxford Gold, Marston Pedigree and Banks Amber were on during our visits and the couple we tried were in very good nick, especially the Banks Amber which was very good indeed. If all Marston’s pubs kept their beer this well I wouldn’t have to walk straight past so many.

This is every bit the heritage pub that you'd expect to find in Shrewsbury, with a multi-roomed format.
As described below, but unfortunately I didn't get round to buying a drink and staying a little longer, which was a pity.

I didn't realise that this was a Camra National Inventory pub of Historical Interiors, until Will pointed it out to me later on, in the Three Fishes. So cheers Will, we popped in on Saturday Morning, when it opened at 11am. The two snugs on the left of the entrance were outstanding. So glad I called, plus the landlord makes all the cobs in the rear kitchen, very scrummy.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Loggerheads

Splendid, old-fashioned pub with a very characterful, multi-room Camra national inventory heritage interior that has thankfully avoided any significant change since my last visit over ten years ago. As before, I found good selection of real ales from the Marston's stable available from six of the seven handpumps, including the seasonal Sweet Chariot (£1.65, half). Well worth seeking out.

Splendid aged and timbered pub with several wood-panelled rooms arranged round the central corridor in true antique fashion. Proved excellent for groups, with a side room making for an excellent stopping off point on the PuG crawl. A fair range of ales are available from the Marston's stable. Definitely worth a visit.

One of the great pub interiors, which is reason enough to pay a visit. To the right of the entrance is the Bar,but it's a small square room with the counter displaying all 7 handpumps from the Marston's portfolio of breweries.Down the corridor to the left is (until 1975) a men only room with wooden bench seating on both sides.Further along the corridor is a small snug and then you finally arrive at the fourth room, which also has an exterior door and a bit more room than the other three rooms with it's own bar access.
It's a real boozer and hasn't been knocked about by Marston's, a step back in time and rightly CAMRA listed for the interior.
On my trip the ale choice was Banks Amber,Oxford Gold,Sweet Patriot,Wainwright,Snecklifter and Pedigree (NSBB 3).Maybe not the most exciting line up but don't let disuade you from a worthwhile visit and some decent banter.

Listed 18th Century pub , the interior is listed of Historical Importance , there are four rooms linked by a corridor , of the two entrances it is best to enter the door on the left as you face the pub into the corridor , the first door takes you to the Bar Parlour and this small room is the heart of the pub , 7 handpulls on the bar with Banks Amber x2 , Snecklifter , Oxford Gold , Pedigree , Sweet Chariot and a well kept Wainwright , this is also home to the chatty locals .
Follow the corridor round and it leads to the the Smoke Room and the Poets Room and eventually the Lounge where the other entrance is located .

Lovely old multi-roomed inn, toward the higher are of the town & near 3 nice churches, the beer choice is shown by pumpclips next to the corridor serving hatch, as well as the front bar to the right. Lovely place to visit, shame the beer was rather average.

Nice pub tucked away down a side street. A bit cramped inside and took a long time to get served but Snecklifter is always worth the wait. We found a table in a side room after a bit of walking round. Would revisit.

I like this pub. Multi-roomed and as Mr Mapp says below it is initially a bit of a maze. That said it is a very friendly place and every time I've been in I've enjoyed it.
