It looks small from outside but once in its a large rabbit warren. Can be noisy and seems to be making a lot of money from child benefits. Its usually very dark in here which is probably for the best.

Well as the previous review urged i popped in while in town to see this much improved 10/10 pub .

Pretty busy with lots of families eating , weave around the Pushchairs , prams and rucksaks handily placed in the aisles , past a group of what appear to be the illegitamate offspring of Jimmy Saville and Pinhead only one of whom has a drink the others are just staring blank eyed at the ceiling , quite a few middle aged blokes staggering around on a mission to drink themselves stupid , around to the bar where half a dozen old blokes are using there combined 300 years of experience to block as much of the bar as possible , get to the bar and what a choie GK IPA or Pedigree , opt for the IPA , barmaid half way through pouring suddenly looks up in a panic and shouts did someone order a Guiness , no one replies , she looks confused and carries on pouring the IPA , get my pint , its so cold my hand freezes to the glass , fight past more prams to the back of the pub where some middle age couples are passing round a bottle of brandy to top up there drinks , the beer is tasteless and the smell of fried food overpowering , then theres the noise , all the kids start shouting the parents trying to quite them down shout louder and the old boys by the bar start arguing even the `shell suited adverts for the local piercing shop start talking loudly , well when i say talking more stringing a random selection of swear words together , i drink up and leave .
So yes a welcome improvment i would give 11/10 if i could

Not a lot of change over the last 4 years as far as I could see. The place was still full of shoppers eating cheap food and the bar staff were still poor. I waited for a while, couldn't get served despite it not being really busy and left AGAIN!

This pub is a bit of a Wetherspoonalike but without the beer choice. The menus look like JDWs and the decor is fairly similar but with more comfortable seats. Two handpumps on the bar selling Bombardier and Old Speckled Hen. The main problem was that I couldn't get any!!!! There were only two people in front of me and one of these was just paying. Five minutes later I still hadn't been served. The girl behind the bar seemed to have no idea how to use the till and the couple in front of me had ordered main meals and some side orders. Another bloke wandered behind the bar served himself a drink and toddled off during this time. Get some decent staff on or at least train the poor sods who're working here! No wonder it was dead at 8:30 on a Thursday. I walked up to the Yorkshire House and got myself a pint there, I suspect I'd still have been waiting in here. Pathetic!

A few changes since my last visit , its had a minor refurb , the old snug to the right of the entrance has gone and the pub is now open plan and a lot lighter than it was(it was a bit dark and dreary) , the front is now pretty modern and clean , it is mainly geared for food in a similar vein to Wetherspoons with cheap meal and drink deals . To the back of the pub is a seperate area that shows the pubs age unlike the modern front this is all exposed brick and stonework with three or four old stone arch windows (bricked in )and an old stone passage leading downstairs to the Crypt Bar (only open at night) which was once part of another pub called the Market Vaults , the two pubs were knocked together in the early 1980s (the Vaults was a cracking little pub)
Beer was the usual tap stuff with 3 ales TT Landlord , Marstons Pedigree and EPA , the TT Landlord was OK . Its much improved in here and it was busy with mainly people eating but there are many better pubs in town

very old, I found the place a bit dark, but a nice pint of lager, never tried the food but have had good reports about the pub grub there.
