Being near to places like The Warehouse and Albert's Shed, this place was packed out with the young "circuit" crowd early on a Friday night. As I spent most of my time here in a three deep bar queue, I can only describe this place as "Full". Other reviews will tell you about the wallpaper and the carpets. So it was just a quick half of (decent) Hobsons and off to find another crowd!

This is a modern styled hotel bar that I didn't really take to at all. It is open plan with wooden laminate floors and apart from some sofas has the sort of modern furniture that is designed to look good rather than be of use. The bar has three hand pumps with Salopian Shropshie Gold and Three Tuns Solstice & Cleric's Cure. I went for the Cleric's Cure which I thought was on the turn. If you like modern styled bars then this might be OK but I doubt that I would go back.

We called in here on a Wednesday night at about 10:15. They now have real ales on the bar, so I thought it might be worth a visit. There's a large restaurant area to the right as you enter and a bar area with a couple of comfy sofa's and chairs. I had a pint of Salopian Oracle which was in decent nick and the other half and her mother had a glass of red wine each. The barmaid pointed out that it would be much cheaper to have a bottle if we were having another drink, we declined and what a good decision that was, despite the fact that the wine was decent. Another couple had entered the bar just in front of us and spent well over £10 on a cocktail and a whisky. We sat down on one set of sofas and they sat at the other. As soon as we'd sat down they started mopping the restaurant area with something that would be classed as a chemical weapon in Syria. Within a couple of minutes the whole place was reeking and our eyes were beginning to water. The other couple said "I think they're trying to get rid of us" and they drank up and left almost immediately. We were there a few more minutes as I had a pint to drink up towards the end of a long night, but we then left as well. What a crap way to treat 5 customers who had just spent over £20 between them. This lot really do need to get their customer service in order even if it means that they have to wait until they close to mop up. What a bunch of useless self-centred muppets.

Stayed here for one night on my short visit to Shrewsbury. I was amazed at my room as it had a full working kitchen boasting a fridge, sink, hobs and a microwave! Pity that it didn't have a proper window to look out of.

Now for the negatives. After spending £50 to stay I was under the impression that the breakfast would be included. Oh no sadly not! I was somewhat flabbergasted when they charged me £6.90 for a full English! If I'd have known this I would have gone to a nearby cafe or a greasy spoon or even Wetherspoons.

How they can have the sheer audacity to charge paying lodgers for breakfast is beyond me.

Well worth a look in, Staff very friendly and helpful. Staff are also knowledgable about their beers. Woods Shropshire Lad and Salopian Gold are the regs. Three Tuns XXX, Sharps Doom Bar, Wye Valley and Directors were the guests.

Large corner pub that was previouslly known as the Exchange , completly revamped in a modern cafe bar style with lots of glass , wood and chrome most of the signage is in French , there is seating outside and a resturant upstairs , downstairs is divided , dining to the right and lots of comfy sofas and chairs to the left , it was pretty busy with a mixture of young trendy types and suits having an after work drink . Normally i would avoid a place like this but there is a good selection of drinks , the keg stuff is a mix of Spanish(not San Miguel) and Portoguese lagers and an American beer Blue Moon and there are five handpulls , four were on , Wood Shropshire Lad , Salopian Gold , Bombadier and Youngs Best , i was told the other pump was normally Three Tuns XXX , i had Shropshire Lad which was exellent .
Worth popping in for a pint whilst on a crawl
