Outside the city centre, from which it is easy to get to by a footbridge across the river, this is off the beaten track for tourists. Unless it's beer tourists, of course, because this is a destination pub. Though first and foremost it's a locals pub, and these locals seem to like their beer. There are four hand pumps on the front corner of the bar, with three of them repeated towards the rear (see my photo for the three - I seem to have missed the fourth). I went for the Bass, perhaps influenced by the prominent red triangle on the front of the pub. Definitely worth crossing the river for this one.

The first thing you notice on approach, is the old Bass signage to the side, front façade, hanging sign and brewer's lantern above the door.
Inside, and it's obviously very much a locals' boozer catering for friendly older male customers all crowded around the bar, though perhaps the pub attracts a younger more bisexual customer base later in the evening.
It's a dated pub but in a good way, with some horse brasses on high.
Falling prey to the power of the pub's external advertising, I opted for a half of the AB-InBev Marston's-brewed Draught Bass, having forgotten that this V2.0 is a pale shadow of its former self. But for the bar blockers, I would probably have opted for one of the at least three other superior beers.
This is a pleasant little journey back in time to a style of pub that is now hard to find and I'd have no problem returning.

This pub is a walk from the town centre across the Greyfriars footbridge and then left a bit along Longden Coleman. A nice white exterior with a prominent Bass signage on the front, inside it is one L shaped room with a wood panelled lounge area with some banquette seating as you enter and then a smaller areas to the right with dartboard and further banquette seating.
Four permanent ales are provided on two sets of pumps and these are Draught Bass, Salopian Shropshire Gold, Woods Shropshire Lad and Three Tuns XXX. I went for the Salopian Shropshire Gold and it was well kept.
I wasn’t enamoured as much with this one as others seem to have been finding it a bit underwhelming, possibly not helped by the fact that the locals were doing an excellent job of bar blocking, which of course they are fully entitled to do as it is their pub and they spend their money here. Its probably a 6 and a half in my book but as the local bar blockers were friendly enough I’ll give the pub the benefit of the doubt.

A good locals pub, where everyone is welcome. The landlord takes great pride in his beer condition and this was certainly evident on our visit. Four cask ales on handpump, Salopian Shropshire Gold, Bass, Three Tuns XXX and Woods Shropshire Lad. I went for the Three Tuns, which was excellent. I also asked to try the Bass and the Landlord nearly filled out a half pint glass, which was good, the locals had some banter over that. A comfortable pub, which was busy on our Friday afternoon visit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Cross Foxes

Traditional, two-room pub, located across the river from the town centre in Coleham but easily reached via the Greyfriars Footbridge. Two banks of four (duplicated) handpumps, including the Woods Shropshire Lad (£1.60, half), but the prominent Bass signage on the façade would rightly suggest that this is the most popular beer here. Overall, quite good in its understated way.

A proper locals' pub with 1980's-sytyle banquettes and rough-plastered walls giving a step back into the relatively recent past. A nice drop of Bass on offer, together with Salopian Shropshire Gold, Wood's Shropshire lad and Three Tuns XXX.

A classic local boozer opposite a water pumping station on the Coleham side of town with a large Bass red triangle on the pubs' frontage. You enter into a wood panelled, carpeted lounge with lots of cup and awards for the locals darts team and a comfortable leather bound banquette below the front window.A cribbage board was available to play.To the right side in a room marked as Smoke Room there is the darts board and another small banquette.
The mature regulars seem to inhabit the bar stools ,so there will be blocking but the two sets of handpumps serve the same selection which on my trip was Salopian Shropshire Gold,Woods Shropshire Lad,Bass and Three Tuns XXX (NBSS 3.5)
This is a comfortable and relaxed place and it would have been tempting to stay a while and soak up the atmosphere had we not been on an extensive tour of the town.

A rather nice little boozer away from the town centre. Two roomed with a comfortable feel. 4 handpumps for real ales, though a rather pedestrian selection.

Proper little locals pub opposite the historic Coleham pumping station , it is as described below a single L shaped room with button backed leather seating and lots of wood and horse brass , the right of the entrance is given over to darts .
Locals and staff were very friendly with lots of banter flying around .
Usual keg taps and seven handpulls sixdoubled up with Worthington , Shropshire Gold and a well kept Bass the other pump was unbadged.
I really like it in here , its one of those places who feel like a local after a few minutes in there , only the slightly dull choice of beer lets it down .
