Old Boots left this review about Royal Victoria Hotel

Bar in an hotel but open to public, there are two rooms to the left and right of the central door. No ales on in the bar to the left just three pulls, one blank the others with reversed Hobgoblin and Cumberland Ale clips, it must have been a busy Saturday night. Two more pulls in right hand bar same sitution and there's the usual sort of kegs repeated in both rooms. The right hand room has more comfortable furnishings and is nicely decorated in modern old style with leather banquette seating and armchairs potted plants and a few nice prints. The left hand room has tall tables and stools plus some banquette seating and booths by the front window. Again nicely decorated in contrast to the rest of the hotel which is a bit dowdy. I popped in one Sunday night and found no customers and just two dogs (poodles I think) behind the bar.

Oggwyn Great left this review about Royal Victoria Hotel

Imposing Victorian Hotel about halfway down the main street , it has recently had a major refurb , there are seats outside on the pavement , as you enter the public bar is to the left and very nice it is , lots of comfy leather chairs and sofas , usual taps plus Hobgoblin and Cumberland Ale , i had the Hobgoblin which was OK if not great , its not to bad in here , OK for a quick one while on a crawl
