Will Larter left this review about George & Dragon Inn

A delightful old building with many interesting features, prime among which would be the large ceiling boss (see photos) which I imagine would have been for hanging a lantern. Although the pub is fairly small, it was quite clearly once divided into even smaller rooms, as shown by the different floors - tiled in red and black to the left, with floorboards to the right. On the bar were five hand pumps, with four beers on at the time of my visit: Greene King Abbot, St Austell Tribute, Salopian Shropshire Gold and Wye Valley HPA. It was fairly quiet at the time of my mid-afternoon visit, but this is a pleasant place to while away a few minutes in silent contemplation - or would have been, if one of the locals had not engaged me in conversation. Maybe another time.

Old Boots left this review about George & Dragon Inn

The most pubby of the pubs and pub themed restaurants in Wenlock, its a Victorian front on an older building, there are no brasses in this one but a few beams of uncertain ages. Traditional floor and furniture, cast iron base tables, wheel-back chairs and settles on board and quarry tiles with a colourfully tiled Victorian fireplace in one corner. It’s still set up for dining but retains a public bar atmosphere, there is also a small restaurant at the back. Beers are mainly national brands, Bombardier, Greene King, St Austell and locally Hobsons, served from five pulls with personalised handles. Décor is black and white photos, whisky jugs and pumpclips reinforcing the pubbiness of the place, even if the staff can be pre-occupied with tables waiting. Check out the carvings on the beam above the main fireplace.

John Horton left this review about George & Dragon Inn

Olde worlde Free House in the town centre. Single room bar area at the front. Serves a variety of real ales, local & some from further afield (on my visit they had a Mordue brew from Tyneside). Old wooden furnishings accompanied by old photo's of the town & an impressive display of mugs & jugs. Warm & welcoming atmosphere. Extremely popular with the local townspeople & farming community. Very good restaurant at the rear serving local produce. Large municipal car park (free after 17:00) at the rear. Not far from the site of the first modern Olympic Games - de Cubertin had his idea for an international event after seeing the Wenlock Games in Linden Fields.
