Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Fox & Hounds

Joule's pub at the top end of Cheswardine opposite the impressive village church.

There are a number of different drinking sections, all with plenty of character. Joule's Pale Ale & Slumbering Monk are regular beers. They also had a seasonal Joule's beer called Frisky Rabbit. The landlord did pour it through before serving me mine. But it still tasted in poor condition.

A couple had ordered food. Portions looked on the large side.

Could be a decent pub with some guests and perhaps a real cider. But limiting the selection to Joule's beers only is an own goal, especially when the beer quality is also poor.

Oggwyn Great left this review about The Fox & Hounds

Very friendly Joules pub in pretty little village .
The pub has lots of little snugs and alcoves and a large old fireplace , there are a variety of styles on show with old dark woods , tiled floors and some wood panels leading to a conservatory dining area .
Usual kegs and three ales from Joules , all in good nick although i do find Joules beers a little dull .
Service was very friendly as were the locals , well worth a visit .

CHRISTINE GOUGH left this review about The Fox & Hounds

The Fox and Hounds has a natural kind of charm, nestled at the top of the village opposite the picture postcard church. It has been a Joule’s house since the 19th century, look out for the original Joule’s etched glass door in the front lobby. The Joule’s mirrors are new additions as is a new downstairs kitchen and the oak frame rear conservatory.
The name of the pub, unchanged for over 200 years is fitting in this country village, today the heart of this inn is still its hand pulled ale and hearty pub food. You will easily find carved hounds heads guarding the pub but the fox takes a bit more searching for.

Run by Chrissy and Woody, we believe in the simple things which make a pub tick, great real ale, good quality food, home made and hearty, an open fire and local pub banter which is sure to keep you entertained. Food is available daily and Sunday lunch is well worth the drive out (booking is always advisable). It’s a great place to walk from and well worth exploring this pretty corner of north Shropshire.

Cheswardine is also just ten minutes from the brewery in Market Drayton but it is also a brewing village; if you find yourself this way, Cheswardine’s other pub is a brewpub – the Lion’s Tail brewery.
