As described below with pics on their website, this is the first pub you encounter when entering from the south, driving over the bridge which straddles the Teme; it’s also nestled in the shadow of the magnificent 13th century Broad Gate tower.
Overall, this is a cosy place, carpeted, real fire and plenty of hanging brassware, with much exposed old stone and timbers, some modern light fixings looking a bit out of place. Customers were a resolutely older bunch, with a group from the Black Country then a couple from Liverpool, all seemingly staying in the guest rooms.
A dull ale selection manifested itself in the form of an unused pump, then Pedigree, Wainwright’s Golden Beer and Ringwood’s Razor Back (very cheap at £2.05 a half) and almost as vinegary as when Ian sampled it, served by a friendly barman.
This is a perfectly pleasant pub where I could happily spend some time, but it really needs to get its cask choice in order. To quote Ian Fleming: Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.

Originally two cottages many years ago, this is now a Marston's pub. Lots of dark wood around the place mean that it looks good, though how much is left from the original cottages who knows. There's a small room to the left as you enter that appears to be mainly for dining, although it was closed on our Monday afternoon visit. A massive fireplace is facing you and the bar is to the right. Up a few steps to a further room to the right. Three handpumps on the bar with beers from the extended Marston's stable. My first pint of Ringwood was vinegar, but it was changed with no problem and an apology. I then chose a Pedigree which was in good nick, Ms CAMRA like the wine as well. Overall a decent pub, but Ludlow is blessed with so many good ones, it's not anything spevial around here.

Situated just beside Ludlow's Broadgate, which was completed in 1270. The pub itself dates from 1753 and is now a Marston's house. The pub has a lot of interesting features both inside and out and there was a large very welcoming log fire on our recent visit. The interior is traditional and has a rural feel to it, the main room is long and narrow, with the bar area found halfway down along the back wall. The seating areas was very comfortable and the atmosphere was homely. Four handpumps with three beers on, Brakspear Gold, Christmas Everyday and Pedigree. I went for the Pedigree which was better than I imagined.

Another fairly decent town centre pub. This one is situated down a hill and just past an archway. A Marston's pub and basically one roomed, though this is lengthy. Beers from Marston's range. Worth a visit even if you don't like Marstons.

A pair of 18th century cottages that have been converted into a now Marston's pub at some stage, which is in a yellow rendered brick, and has a series of dormer windows. A nice looking place with a patio area. The interior is pretty much one straight room, partially divided up. The decor is stone and cream, with a red and beam ceiling. There are a couple of fireplaces and old prints are on the walls, with plates and other ephemera dotted about. There was no music and a small TV was showing the footy. There are a couple of dining areas, though you could eat anywhere in the pub. The service was very friendly and a few people were in. Beer; usual tap stuff with Burton Bridge Bitter and a decent Cockerhoop on handpull. Nice place, just lacks a little beer excitement for me - but definitely worth a pop in for one.
